KOMPAS.com – The list of the 50 best restaurants in the world was released again at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants event on Tuesday (20/6/2023).
Central, a restaurant in South America, is ranked first in the best restaurants in the world 2023.
Previously, Geranium from Denmark was ranked at the top of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2022.
This award is dominated by restaurants from America and Europe. There are also restaurants from Asia, such as Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong.
A number of restaurants are also known to have just entered the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world, such as Le Du in Thailand, Kjolle in Peru, and Sezanne in Japan.

1. Central, Peru
This restaurant has been serving fine dining with special techniques for 15 years. This is the first South American restaurant to be awarded the title of best in the world.

Guests can enjoy the menu a la carte or a menu containing more than 14 dishes, including seasonal dishes from seafood and nuts.

5. Alchemist, Denmark
This restaurant was built from a former famous shipyard. The dining area for guests looks attractive, presenting a graphic view with a dining atmosphere under a dome-shaped roof.
A piece of fish cod served in “plastic” which is safe to eat. The goal is to raise awareness of marine pollution.
There is also a chocolate bar shaped like a coffin to remind of child labor in the chocolate industry.

6. Maido, Peru
Serving at Maido restaurant, Peru.Maido means welcome in Japanese. This greeting is given by the restaurant team to every guest who comes.

Local beer, sake, wine, as well as a variety of interesting cocktails are served to complement the meal at Maido.

7. Lido 84, Italy
A combination of years of research into local ingredients, old recipe books and international cooking techniques, packaged in the dishes at Lido 84.
This restaurant is perched above Lake Garda, offering beautiful sea views to please the eyes.
Lido 84 is ranked 15th on the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world 2021, and also received the One To Watch Award in 2019.

Atomix’s ranking improved significantly when compared with last year’s list of the best restaurants in the world.
Atomix is managed by Chef Junghyun ‘JP’ Park with his wife and one of his other colleagues.

The 12 course menu is served on plates with basic Korean ingredients. Featuring world-class combinations of flavors and food textures.

9. Quintonil, Mexico
Typical Mexican dishes are made directly by Quintonil’s chef, Jorge Vallejo, using local ingredients with traditional techniques.
Vallejo studied management and culinary arts in Mexico and worked at one of the world’s best restaurants, Noma.
He built this restaurant in 2012 with his wife, Alejandra Flores. The two of them collaborate to serve food with warmth.
10. Table by Bruno Verjus, France
Table by Bruno Verjus is at the top of the list as a new restaurant on the list of the 50 best restaurants in the world.
This restaurant features long tables in the dining area, as well as an open kitchen that allows guests to see Bruno Verjus preparing his food.
Verjus is 63 years old, has a lot of life experience and opened his restaurant at the age of 54. It has the motto “Our food choices shape our world.”
