Memphis restaurant StickEM featured on Food Network

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis restaurant will be spotlighted on a popular Food Network show Friday night.

StickEM restaurant on Madison Avenue will be featured on Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.” Fieri made a trip to taste StickEM’s popular kabobs.

Friday morning, owner Ermyias Shiberou was hard at work preparing for a full house. Tables were empty, but at 8 pm Friday, they’ll be filled for a watch party.

“I kept getting emails that I thought were fake but I finally responded and went from there,” Shiberou said.

This comes a week after Memphis soul food queen BJ Tamayo and her restaurant Alcenia made their second appearance on the show. Tamayo also appeared on Food Network’s “Chopped.”

“It was kind of nice to be acknowledged for something I love doing and it was a good opportunity to represent me, my family, and the city,” Shiberou said.

It’s not easy to maintain a restaurant, especially for nearly a decade. Just last week Memphis culinary legend and “Chopped” champion Chef Tam announced his Memphis restaurant closure.

“Not having revenue, not having staffing, closed for bad weather,” Shiberou said. “And we’re still here.”

But opportunities like “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” drive more customers.
